Course 1 – Standards 1.1.2
Young Gifted Children in ECE Settings – 3 hours.

The focus of this 3-hour course is for teachers to develop an understanding of the physical, social and intellectual development and characteristics of children who are gifted and an understanding of how to use teaching strategies based on the physical, social and intellectual development and characteristics of children who are gifted.

Course 2 – Standards 1.5.2, 6.4.2
Young Gifted Children: Differentiating Teaching Strategies in ECE Settings – 3 hours.

During this 3-hour course teachers will develop an understanding of differentiating teaching strategies and develop activities to meet the specific learning needs of gifted children.

Course 3 – Standards 3.7.2, 7.3.2
Young Gifted Children in ECE Services: Engaging Parents in the Educative Process – 2 hours.

The focus of this 2-hour course is for early childhood teachers to help establish, and maintain a respectful collaborative relationship with parents of gifted children and engage them in appropriate and contextually relevant opportunities to plan for and be involved in their children’s learning and thereby enable gifted children’s learning and well-being.

Course 4 – Standards 1.1.2, 1.5.2, 3.7.2, 6.4.2, 7.3.2
Young Gifted Children in ECE Settings: Differentiating Teaching Strategies and Engaging with Parents

6 hours

This whole day professional learning program will develop an understanding of gifted children; how to differentiate teaching strategies to meet the specific learning needs of gifted children; how to establish collaborative relationship with their parents and engage them in appropriate and contextually relevant opportunities to plan for and be involved in and enable their children’s learning and well-being.

Dr Mimi Wellisch is a registered psychologist and a gifted child specialist with Bachelor and Master degrees in Early Childhood Education. Mimi is author of books and peer reviewed and other journal article. She is passionate about young gifted children and is an engaging presenter, having presented at many local and international conferences and workshops. She has been President, Vice President and Treasurer of the NSW Association for Gifted and Talented Children, and provides cognitive assessments.
